If the lens touches the nail, it cuts or snags the lens as they are very soft. They are all tested before vialed.
How To Store Contact Lenses
By storing your contact lenses correctly you can ensure that they are clean and safe to use. This will protect your eyes from irritation. Almost all of the risks associated with wearing coloured contact lenses are due to poor lens hygiene, so by cleaning and storing your lenses correctly you can greatly reduce these risks.
To store your contact lenses correctly you will need contact lens solution and one clean contact lens case for each pair of lenses. After you have removed a contact lens, follow these steps:
Place the lens in the palm of your hand.
Pour a little contact lens solution onto the lens.
Use your index finger to rub the lens very gently in the solution. Do this for 15-30 seconds. Be sure to use your fingertip, not your nail.
Place the lens in its section of the contact lens case. Fill the case with contact lens solution.
Close the case tightly.
If needed, repeat for the other lens.
There are a few different types of contact lens case but they all have two sections - one for each lens. You should always place just one lens in each section, as the lenses could become stuck together otherwise. Keep the lens case in a cool, safe place. You can store your contact lenses in this way until you are ready to wear them again.
